Summer is nearly here and I’m always looking for safe ways to keep my dog cool for the warmer weather. Pupsicles (dog popsicles) are a fun way to do this!
This simple strawberry popsicle recipe requires only two clean ingredients, making it easy and super fast to make.
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup Goat’s Milk: A gentle, highly digestible alternative to cow’s milk that provides a hydrating, nutrient-dense base.
- 1 Fresh Strawberry: Packed with antioxidants and Vitamin C. Ensure it is washed thoroughly and chopped into small pieces.
A Note on Molds: For this recipe, a flexible silicone mold is what I used. Standard plastic ice cube trays make it incredibly difficult to remove the frozen treats without breaking them. A food-grade silicone mold with small cavities (like paw or bone shapes) allows you to effortlessly pop the treats out whole, while keeping the portions small and manageable for your dog. Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Portion the Base
Pour 1/4 cup of goat’s milk evenly across the cavities of your silicone mold. This creates a smooth, nutrient-dense base for the treat.
2. Add the Fruit
Take one fresh strawberry, wash it thoroughly, remove the green top, and chop it into small, bite-sized pieces. Drop a few pieces of the chopped strawberry into each mold cavity filled with the goat’s milk.
3. Freeze and Serve
Place the silicone mold flat in your freezer. Leave it to freeze for at least three hours to ensure the popsicles are completely solid. Once frozen, gently pop them out of the mold, and they are ready for your dog to enjoy.
Serving Tips
As with any new treat, make sure not to give too much at once so you can see if it agrees with your dog’s stomach.
