The Ultimate One-Pot Dog Food Recipe: Easy, Healthy, and Convenient

All dog parents want our dogs to live a long and healthy life. Am I right?? But with busy schedules, it’s easy to just default to commercial kibble.

If you’ve been wanting to transition to home-cooked meals but feel overwhelmed by the prep and cleanup, this One-Pot Beef and Quinoa Dog Food is the perfect solution. It’s packed with lean protein, nutrient-dense vegetables, and wholesome grains—and can be meal-prepped in advance for the week.

Here is how to make a batch fresh food and I hope that your dog will love it!

Ingredients

To make this balanced meal, you will need:

  • 2 organic carrots (chopped)⁣
  • 1 cup frozen organic green beans⁣
  • 1 lb organic grass-fed ground beef⁣
  • 1 cup cooked organic tricolor quinoa⁣ (or put in 1/3 cup dry quinoa with 2/3 cup water)
  • 1 Tbsp organic grass-fed butter⁣

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Prep the Vegetables

Chop the carrots and green beans. Small, bite-sized pieces of vegetables makes them much easier for your dog to digest and prevents them from picking around the greens.

2. Add everything into the pan

Heat the butter on low just to melt it. Next, add the rest of the ingredients and give the entire mixture a thorough stir to combine all the ingredients evenly.

4. Simmer to Perfection

Bring the pan to medium heat and cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid. Cook through and stir occasionally.

5. Cool and Serve

Remove the pot from the heat and let it cool before serving. Offering hot food can cause burns to your dog’s mouth, so I always touch it with my finger before feeding. Once cooled, fluff with a fork and serve the appropriate portion size for your dog’s weight.

A QUICK NOTE ON STORAGE
You can cool and then store fresh portions in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. For longer storage, divide the food into individual meal-sized containers and freeze for up to 3 months. Simply thaw in the fridge overnight before serving.

Tips:⁣
⭐You can cook the quinoa in the same pan first before adding the other ingredients in.⁣
⭐You can substitute different vegetables instead of green beans (ex: green peas)⁣
⭐You can substitute different oil instead of butter (ex: coconut oil or olive oil)⁣
⭐You can substitute different meat instead of beef (ex: chicken, turkey, salmon)⁣
